in this video I’m going to show you how to wrap text around an image in a blog post because it works a little differently there hi I’m Christy price I’m a Squarespace expert and educator and if you don’t have a copy of my Squarespace pre-launch checklist yet I’ll drop a link below so you can grab one hi I’m here in my sway template for service providers if you are looking to jump start your next website design I’ll drop a link below to my template shop if you started your template in 2022 or later you are probably working with the editor called fluid engine and you’ll know that because when you click edit and scroll down you’ll see a message that says add Block in most of your sections uh this section’s a little different it’s called an autol layout list section but that’s for another day all right so if you’re seeing this you’re used to being able to add blocks and can overlap other things and you’ve got a lot of layout options but the blog on Squarespace still uses the old style classic editor so let’s go ahead and take a look at that I’m going to exit out of here hop into the blog and let’s go into a blog post and I’ll go ahead and click edit here and you’ll see that this blog post is set up with a pretty narrow width and I’ve dropped in an image image here now what’s interesting is that you don’t see an add block button over here instead you see these little plus signs that are insertion points for blocks so when I click one of those I get the option to add a block so let’s say I want to add a new image and I’m just going to grab a free image and I’ll look for something that is about vacation and I think this looks fantastic I wish I was there right now maybe with a few fewer people but let’s get that added and what we’re going to do is when that loads we’re going to take a look at getting the text to wrap around that image now what happened here yeah this has been happening to me a little bit more often recently I think that I get excited and click off before the image loads but I added it back from our asset Library I thought if you’re still having this issue go ahead and just exit out save and refresh your browser tab so hopefully we’ll see that image there we go right there where we meant for it to be now let’s do a couple things first so I’m going to double click here I’m going to turn off caption below I don’t need a caption I do need image alt text so this would be a Beach vacation and you you can also change the file name here or in your asset library but that’s not why we’re here I’m getting excited about images and all the good stuff that goes along with them let me show you how to get the text to wrap around this image so if I click this image with my mouse hold the click and drag the image you’ll see that I’m getting some straight lines here and that would move the image down to this section where that line is but if I click and hold and draw rag you’ll see that there are some places where I get a solid rectangle if I let go there it lets the text wrap around my image this is one of the best things about the old classic editor that I love and I miss because getting uh images to sit in the midst of text and look great across screen sizes is a bit challenging it often requires custom code in fluid engine but here in classic editor it’s amazing and we can also resize this image so I can click the edge of it and make it smaller or larger and actually liked it where it was so we’ll leave it there and you can click save and exit and in mobile view you’ll notice that it puts it in line because otherwise it would be really tough to read this and it would look weird so in Mobile it automatically adjusts so that it’s inline image it’s not wrapped but here we have a nicely wrapped text and image situation now if I don’t want it to go there I can click and drag that rectangle wherever I would like it to go can move it to the other side so again play with it resize it wrap till your heart’s content if you found this helpful please give the video a like or drop a comment below as that helps other people discover my content thanks so much for watching and I wish you all the best with your website
