we have nothing to invest literally zero dollars what kind of business can you start can you grow from zero to a thousand dollars just with blogging espresso house says it takes four months to start earning and even up to 10 months to start earning a thousand dollars from your blog and I really haven’t been known for sticking to things [Music] when I first got the idea of starting a website just became a father and then I saw all of these costs that were involved and I really didn’t have any money to invest for me it was about traveling and I realized this when my wife was pregnant and for those nine months I kept asking myself how can we do this can we afford this can I start blogging without any money but I benched the idea after nine months of putting it off it was around the Christmas holiday and I remember my wife was upstairs nursing her son Elliot a lot and I finally had the time to really look into it there was still one thing to overcome the budget needed to start so I decided to look more into it well you need a logo made you need paid research tools to find out what you should write about we call these keyword tools and there are a bunch of them eager to get your money and you need to buy my course to learn how to do it or you will fail at my favorite you need to buy expensive links or Google won’t reward your content just for being great I will no I really need all of those things do I really need a logo well I’ll just use a cool font and put it on the top of my site do I need a course to tell me what to do well I’m just going to write and see what happens do I need paid links to my site well there already are some mixed opinions about this so I’ll just don’t do them and see what happens I decided then and there that I would put everything I heard about blogging aside and just start doing it and see where it would take me Dakota and I’m so glad I started my blocking journey and did all of this without any investment in the beginning it’s a big leap of faith I know but let’s decode was actually necessary to get started blogging now the steps are pretty easy it’s don’t delay starting your blog just start writing and don’t think too much about it at first write about the right things and really just have fun doing it now creating a blog or a niche site as we call it is to create a blog about a particular interest that you might have that’s a great thing to start writing about because there are loads of people looking for how to get into that just like you once were a beginner now did you pick your hobby yet go on I’ll wait it should be something that you’re passionate about at least that’s what they tell you and myself I’m a pretty grounded guy so I’ve never really felt what other people talk about what passion is I just have stuff that I’m really really interested in like playing the guitar or blogging or coding or creating cool blogging dashboards with other free tools or others to use and they sign up for my email list link and that’s fine too but remember you’re going to spend a lot of time researching and writing about your topic so you need to Choose Wisely otherwise you’ll be stuck with Trevor the toad instead of something cool like an owl and when you know your hobby the rest is pretty easy because what people are looking for isn’t really a mystery and you don’t need any paid tool Google already shows us what people are searching for and what possible questions they might have and let’s take playing the guitar a hobby I have and I have a site on it now there are thousands of topics you can write about but you need to pick one let’s say a sub topic first a Stratocaster is a type of guitar I’m really into so that could be the first topic for my blog now Google shows what people are searching for with two features Auto suggests and people also ask questions but going through all of these manually can be quite a pain and that’s why one free tool comes in answer Socrates and Gareth all the things Google suggests based on what actual people are searching and puts it in this nice handy format for you and a lot of these questions aren’t answered very well on blogs or forums I didn’t have this tool when I first started so you’re already one leg up on getting to your goal and starting your online business now if this is a hobby you already know a lot about you probably know the answer or part of the answer to most of these questions but if it’s a really new topic for you then you get the chance to research and find out a lot of cool things about your hobby which is also very cool if you wanted to learn more about your hobby anyways you can and absolutely you should have a lot of fun doing this and you can get paid for it too but there’s still some things to overcome like how to get a website up and running to even get started blogging or what about article length I heard advice is around 2100 words per article well I’m not really an in-depth long article writer so can I even get started it would probably take a long time to write just one of those won’t it and I found out you really do need a WordPress site to even become successful at blogging you can’t use a free platform and if you ever want to get your site off of a free platform that will be just a nightmare and when you overcome that that’s when the waiting game starts you can’t see any progress for the first couple of months and I’ve had it with every recite their own including Cowboy Surf Report and stop-motion Heroes started last year two months with no visitors at all and that’s a long time to wait for something to happen especially when you’re not sure that something ever will I call this The Minority Report effect where it just takes way too long to get to the good parts and you’d rather just turn off the movie or quit your sights altogether and even after those two months nothing really happens a little Revenue starts coming in at month three a little more at month four plus I’ve never seen the thousand dollars a month after months then that Spencer house is talking about you’re gonna start wondering is this the time to invest in a paid tool to look at my site and see what’s happening are there really any secrets in those paid courses that YouTubers just don’t talk about for free that I should be aware of and if I don’t know those things my site can be successful there must be something more to this right otherwise your site would be growing way faster than it is I’m doing something now and waiting for it to pay off later way later that’s what makes it so hard to push through and what makes it easier to start an online service business where you work now and get paid now or maybe even writing for someone else where you just put in the time and get your paycheck I just wanted to stop writing and look at what those first few articles would do before I put any more time into it and maybe pursue something else but that’s probably the worst thing you could do because you need a full body of content for this to work I could have easily stopped but I didn’t and I learned a lot in the process well it isn’t exactly zero dollars because you need a WordPress site but you can get one of those up for three dollars a month like on Bluehost and that’s all you really need just follow the steps in a few clicks you’re up I learned I could keep at it during that first Christmas holiday and then the following evenings when my wife was still nursing upstairs because I had fun doing it I had fun researching these topics and finding out all of these cool things about my hobbies plus I finished that topic cluster on stratocasters too if you push through after those two months you should be able to bring in enough Revenue to cover the hosting at least and it’ll grow exponentially after that this will happen when I first started and it’s what happened when I started my sites last year Cowboy Surf Report already brings in 32 dollars per month and stop-motion hero 131 dollars per month next to my portfolio of sites earning me a nice income as a full-time blogger you can check out my income reports and link up here if you want any Improvement here I wanted to focus and get into the details of building your site without any investment and these articles Almost Never should go over 800 words but don’t let people fool you that you need at least 2 000 words to get even remotely close to ranking using these underserved topics will get you ranking much faster and you don’t need to write as much and Google will reward your content just for being great I’ve tested this in the last year and I’d say it’s gotten even easier because Google is getting better at recognizing good content over high paid links just writing great content on your website will get you readers and some of these paid tools are cool of course and they’re nice to play around with but you don’t need them right now and maybe even never I’m well over 10K a month and I’m still not using any paid keyword tool even though it took three years we did manage to take that nine month trip before our son had to go to school I’d say blogging is the best thing you could be starting without any money up front but it isn’t the get grid quick scheme it’s what I talk about in this video where I wrote a couple of Articles once and then the money started coming in
