Hello, welcome to Vio’s Journey. My name is Anthony and this show is about helping all the new and upcoming voiceover artists grow their business, sidestep all the crazy things this guy seems to step on. We’re going to be talking about voice over jobs for beginners in 2025. I usually do this video at the beginning of the year, every year, and I am behind, I will admit, but I think we have plenty of time in 2025 to to to grow and use this video. Um, so this year, I’m very excited. Typically, what I like to do is I like to give like the top three places that you can go as a beginning voiceover artist to get work. And I always want to start out with a caveat to say, listen, I understand there’s so many different journeys out there and paths and ways to go. So, this is just my humble opinion about where to start and over the eight, nine years I’ve been doing this and gone full-time and coached hundreds and thousands of voice actors and and you know, had some success, this path continues to work very well and it is the path that we teach at Vio’s Journey Academy. So, I’m very very excited about talking to you today. So, let’s get started. Number one, number one, the number one place for you to start as a new voice actor is ACX. All right, ACX. That is to me the number one place I get everybody started out uh as a voice actor. Why? Because one, it’s free. Doesn’t cost you any money to get on there. Two, it’s a very low barrier of entry when it comes to what you need to get started. As long as you have your equipment, you know, your setup, and you’re able to record, you can go on to ACX, open account. All right, they use your Amazon account and you can start to audition. And basically, you’re just putting in auditions and uh you have opportunity to get a job just like anybody else. You don’t have to have demos. You don’t have to have a head shot. You don’t have to have all of this stuff to audition, right? Because you’re just auditioning. So, it is by far the number one place to get work for a beginner. And typically, I I’ve not worked with any and and this is this is a big I would say this is a big this is a monstrous thing. All the people I’ve ever worked with, I I I help them get work on ACX. They get work. I’ve never had someone not get a job on ACX. That’s massive. That’s I mean it’s true with the thousands of people I’ve worked with. So and and that’s because there’s a lot of work there. Now what is the con if you will, right? Those are all the pros. The con would be that you don’t typically it’s it’s not a place you’re going to make a ton of money at. Do you know what I mean? There’s royalty share type um offers, there’s, you know, per finished hour offers. There’s audiobook work. So, you’re not going to be making a ton of money, but like I said, as you’re getting started, you just want to get yourself out there. You want to get yourself up and running, get yourself some work. And I think that that is the focus that I’d like to to bring about to new people is that, you know, the starting off your job is just to get a job, just to start. You know what I mean? Also, if you’re concerned about, well, I don’t feel like I’m I’m good enough right now. I don’t put my name on it. That’s the wonderful thing about what we do, right? You can use a pseudonym. You don’t have to use your name. You can use a different name. And that’s really fun. You know what I mean? So, so that’s a that’s a very exciting kind of path and a place to start. You know, when I started, I I wanted to always get work. I just wanted to have work and that was a place that allowed me to do it. So, ACX is a fantastic place for you to get started. You’re brand new, hands down. It’s the number one place. It takes next to nothing. All you need to really get started is, you know, your setup, your equipment, your mic and your computer and and your space to record in uh and your DAW. Uh, you know, when you have when you’re able to record, that’s the place to be. That’s the place to start. Okay. Number two. number two and it still remains you know and it’s funny over the years I have you know there’s always been a battle uh here or there with some people who like the platform some people who don’t and this or that but all over all the years I’ve been doing voice over it still remains one of the number one places I get the majority of my work and I started there and that is Fiverr Fiverr is still fantastic and I I’ll you know say it till the day I die it’s a great place to get started on and to get work. All right. Um, now as it’s grown, right, you know, you do need some things to get on there, like you need a, you know, you need a good thumbnail. Okay. Um, so you need some some kind of head shot. Now, you can use your phone if you want. That’s fine, but you need a head shot. You need to create a thumbnail. And you need a demo. You need to have a demo or a couple demos, something to share because when you put basically in Fiverr, what you’re trying what you’re doing is you’re putting up offerings, right? like you’re selling your, you know, like you’ll do a commercial voice over, you’ll do a e-learning voice over, an audiobook voice over, a meditation voice over, a YouTube, you’ll, you know, you’re you’re giving all of these offers. We call them gigs. And so, you have to be able to put gig, you know, um, demos, people, you know, something for people to listen to. But Fiverr, hands down, continues to be one of the best places for new people and seasoned people to get a steady stream of work. And they’re good paying jobs. They, you know, when you start off, yes, you might start low. You might be getting jobs for$5 or $10 for a couple of seconds, right? For for someone who is not, you know, a a Fortune 500 company. That’s not who we’re working with on Fiverr, right? Although you although I’ve worked with those people on Fiverr and they pay a lot of money, but the thing I’m trying to say is is that it’s a place for everyone because you can charge really low entry rates if you’re just starting out to high rates, which is what I charge and it works. Fiverr is a fantastic place. It’s one of the best reporting places out there. Um, you know, does it have its challenges like every other platform? Of course, every other platform does. And and are those is is some people are you going to hear some people say well they charge too you know people charge too less on there and it’s degrading the industry or whatever like this. Listen I’ve been doing this like I said for eight nine years now and and there’s some people bless their hearts who continue to say the same thing over and over and over again for years and years and years. I’ve made hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars on that platform. So that’s okay for some people. Again, it’s not for you. The whole point is is that this is for you to get a job as a beginner. You might not want to be there later on. That’s okay. But it’s a great place to get jobs for as beginners. All right. And the third place, this one’s been a little bit, this one’s been kind of crazy because in the past, you know what I mean? I’ve always recommended Upwork. Upwork has been a very good place and it continues to be a really good place, you know, upwork.com to get work as a beginner. Um, the reason being is because on Upwork, um, people, clients come and they put up a job and then you send a proposal, right? Like, I’m going to I I propose to do your job for you for the amount that you’ve said and and you get jobs that way. But over the last year or two, they have really increased their rates. So before it was pretty free, you know what I mean? You you got you got credits, you could send proposals and it it might have cost a little bit of money down the, you know, if you wanted to send a lot of proposals cuz they they cost these thing called credits or whatever. Um but recently they have really upped their rates to where you have to spend about $20 a month, do you know what I mean? To to to be able to send any type of proposals. That’s okay. I mean, again, I’ve always said I I’d invest every penny I had if I was going to tr, you know, make triple back, right? Like, you know what I mean? Like, think about, you know, it’s okay to invest some money if you’re going to make it back, right? When you’re investing it in these platforms. So, that’s fine. So, I I do really like I still like Upwork. I still like Upwork, but I’m going to say that the other side of this now is I uh is academyvoices.com. I really like AcademyVoices.com. It is a small barrier of entry. It’s $9 a month. But, you know, the the fact of the matter is is that it is another audiobook site, but there is work. There’s lots there’s work every single day there. And, you know, there’s still there’s only about I think there’s probably two or 300 people on the site. So, it’s not as big because it’s just brand new, but it’s doing very well. They published over 300 audio books so far. And, you know, it’s it it’s a really great place to to get started, all right, and to get work. And it has again a low barrier of entry. You don’t need a head. You don’t have to have a headsh shot or a demo to start auditioning. So that’s a really good place. So now and and again Upwork now again that’s going to be more audio books. So you’ve got ACX and Academy Voices is going to be audiobooks. Fiverr and Upwork they do audiobooks but they’re everything, right? You’re going to have every type of voice over on there. So, as a beginner, a beginner, that’s where I’d see the the best places to get business in 2025 to start your journey. Hands down. Hands down the best place to start. Now, there’s a couple other free places that you can get on like vocquent.com. That’s a good place. It’s a free to get on there. It’s an intermediary site, meaning that they help you in between. Um, voicejungle.com. Now, you have to submit to be on that site, but it is but but it’s a good place once you get on there, but you need good demos and you’re competing with a lot of people because they like to keep the roster small. So, again, those those first couple of uh places I mentioned really help voiceover actors. I think beginners get work and I think it’ be a good place for you to cut your teeth on in 2025. So, we’ve got ACX, all right, we’ve got Fiverr, we’ve got Academy Voices, and we’ve got Upwork. Those are really wonderful places. you’ve got really huge places down to a new place that’s really doing well and growing fast. So, use, you know, use these to get uh your business up and running and to start getting something in your portfolio. Down the road, you’re going to grow. You’re going to move to direct marketing. You’re going to move into agents. You’re going to move into all of these things, you know, which we also teach at Abio’s Journey Academy as well, right? um and with our with some of our other coaches as well. But these prime uh methods of getting work early on, right, have helped so many voice actors get into the industry, start making money when a lot of other ones struggle. All right. Um now, I I want to point out I would be remiss if I didn’t say something about AI. Okay. So, it’s very important to know. I know a lot of people are worried about AI. They’re afraid of AI. They’re nervous. They don’t know whether they should get into voice over because of AI. Couple things. One, always remember AI will only ever be good as us. At least now until the Terminator comes, it will only ever be as good as us because it uses human voices to model itself after. So why is that important? Because you will always be right just as good or better than AI. And AI is just another competitor. So you come into the industry, I’m not going to quit because I’ve got another competitor, right? You you know what I mean? I’m not going to do that. So you So I want you to to keep that mindset. And two, I’m you know, yes, AI is is look, it’s going to get better, but it is not going to um replace voice actors. It’s not going to replace them. Will they get jobs? Will people use AI? Of course. Here’s a little thing though. You have to consider AI though with the marketing. Just like when Fiverr came out and voices.com and so forth like that, they expanded the market to people who wouldn’t normally get voiceovers. And I think that’s what happens with a lot of confusion, especially people disliking Fiverr or some of these other places is because there’s there’s confusion about who the client is, right? The client is these are, you know, these are not union clients, right? They’re they’re everyday. I mean, I do voiceovers. I do voice over for a guy who every Halloween he projects uh you know those those spooky characters on his house and has them speak. I do voice over. I mean you could not get that somewhere else that doesn’t and the same thing with AI. It’s going to expand the market and give us also another opportunity. So don’t be afraid of AI. Okay? Don’t be afraid of AI. It’s not going to take away all the work because it is just another competitor. It costs money to use. There’s another thing, right? So ju it’s not free. They and unless you sell your voice too, which is fine if you do. It’s that’s up to you. But if you know like your voice will still be unique. So don’t forget these things. Don’t be afraid of AI. All right? For us have been here and AI has been, you know, going through all this time. We’re still here still getting voiceover work. Still doing a great job. People are still, you know, what’s funny too is the people who come and want you to do a robot voice because AI doesn’t do that. There’s so many things that AI cannot do, right? And struggle and struggles with because, you know, they it it cannot adapt. All right? Um and and again, you know, people can argue, well, down the road he Okay, well, whatever. And so will we. So don’t fear AI, okay? Get into it right now. All right? And these are some great places to get started for your voiceover business for beginners in 2025. Thank you guys so much for watching.
