what is a digital audio workstation is this thing on hello hello over planning and overpreparing can give you the same results as procrastination and I fell into that trap but let me show you how I got out of it welcome back to day one voiceover the channel where I’m documenting my journey into a new career into the voiceover business now you may remember in some of my prior videos that I’ve talked about all the planning that I’ve done for this all of the research that I’ve done all the videos that I’ve watched some of the online coaches some of the established professionals to see what they’ve done to get to where they’re at but I did too much of it I watched many many many videos I practiced in my closet for many hours but it came came to the point where I realized well I I was just dragging my feet and I needed to put myself out there if I was going to get this going and so there are a lot of websites out there that can help a voiceover artist there’s voices.com voice123 ACX which is specifically for audio books but perhaps the most popular one is Fiverr now fiverr’s been around for a long time and it started out as a website where you can get some nice skill work done for a quick five bucks maybe a quick easy logo design or a website design or something like that but Fiverr has really grown to become a pretty big Marketplace for someone looking for Professional Services at a good cost and so it’s become probably the number one venue for a voiceover artist to at least get some work get some traction get some practice under the belt without necessarily having to worry about massive contracts or anything like that so that’s the one I decided to go with fivr and a few weeks ago I had my profile pretty much ready to go ready to publish and I got stalled at the point where I was uploading a video it had to get reviewed by their processing team and it said it would take up to 24 hours but a week later I still hadn’t heard back come to find out you have to actually go live on your profile before they review your video well I was a little nervous about doing that not being quite sure if I had done the profile correctly so it kind of took me a step back and that’s actually when I decided to dive into this Channel and I started making videos and as a result I put that to the side so all of these videos that I’ve been making they’ve been wonderful and shown the progress up until now but I could have pulled the trigger on Fiverr back then and hopefully gotten the ball rolling sooner and I wish I did because today I got my first order on Fiverr and I’m so extremely happy about that see a few days ago I finally went live on my profile and I intended to make a video about it I actually recorded it last week when I hit publish only it didn’t go live because they had to review your W2 information and things like that and then I decided to record it again because I was finally live only to realize that I botched my video and I had a random phone holder sticking up in the corner of the video and I didn’t want to put that out as bad quality work so I finally went live but I also took an extra step there’s one thing that you might have noticed about me so far is that I like to be prepared even if I might have been overprepared I still like to take as many steps as possible to make sure I’m prepared so I found this really great Channel on YouTube called ridgeback Productions and Brian who runs the channel is an established voice artist very successful and he helps review Fiverr profiles which is perfect for what I’m looking for so I reached out to Brian I set up a consultation and we chatted just yesterday as a matter of fact I had my profile up it was live it was ready to go but it was a bit of a mess and he showed me what I needed to change on it he went through line by line option by option sentence by sentence and he showed me what the best settings are to make your profile stand out and wouldn’t you know it I followed his advice after the meeting that I had with him took the rest of the day to tweak it and by the end of the evening I got my first request and I sent a little sample of my voice which funny enough was a voice character a popular one a very wellestablished one I don’t want to say the name until the project is complete but hopefully I can share some of that but they asked me to send a sample of me doing that voice and they liked it and they booked me and it was a surreal experience because one thing I’ve heard about this business is that it can take some time you can go live on Fiverr and spend months trying to get your first paid gig and I can’t tell you how unbelievably happy and blessed and lucky I feel to have already gotten a paid gig now I’m under No Illusion that this is the norm that could be my one and only gig for the next two or three months and it was just a stroke of luck whatever I don’t care I’m extremely Happ happy about it and I’m extremely proud about it because that’s the whole point of this channel technically I’m now officially a paid voice actor a professional one I don’t know what necessarily designates that but I am a paid professional actor voice actor so how much did I make with this first gig well I made a whopping I know it’s Earth shattering right I’ll tell you a little more at the end of the video what I made um what I wanted to do is show you if you’re a beginning voiceover artist or maybe you’re looking to start any kind of career that Fiverr might help you with I wanted to show you a couple of things that really made a difference for me so I’m going to open up the computer share my screen and show you a few of the things that I believe will help you out okay so this is what my profile looks like you’ll see I have a main image there with a couple of different options down here as well a couple of different images and I’ll show you why I have those but it’s important to have a good description um in this page you basically want to talk about what you can offer in the gig in general then you put some general ideas about what your voice might be best suited for so here in the pricing page this is where you can help draw attention to your profile as a beginner artist um the price there as you can see is $5 gosh $5 doesn’t seem like much and it really isn’t but that’s just the base price to draw people in I have up to 350 words that I can record for the $5 which is a bit higher than the average but as a beginner voiceover artist you want the practice you want to build a good foundation with some quality work before you can start charging the better rates and then this in Fiverr is where you build up some of the extra Revenue you can see you can put on here that you’ll script uh you’ll proof read the script you can offer commercial rights full broadcast rights so commercial rights is if they’re going to be used for social media campaigns local local advertising things like that full broadcast rights is like radio and TV and as you can see there $15 it’s $15 extra if they decide to use your work for something that’s promotional $35 for something that might be National and then you can see there’s some other options there that will help you bring up some of the cost it’s not just $5 per job I don’t think anyone would stay on the side if that were the case so you offer some add-ons you’ll add in background music you’ll offer different revisions um at an additional rate and as you can see here I have an option titled next in line which would give someone a priority to move up to the front of line to get their job done quicker now here in the gallery page is where I feel the bulk of the work is done I could be wrong the algorithm is the algorithm but I feel that if they’re going to see your video if they’re going to see what you offer they have to be enticed to click on it it’s no different than YouTube if you’re a Creator on YouTube has to be an appealing thumbnail for them to click on your video otherwise they’ll never watch it so as you can see here on the right it says videos can increase user oops that bouncing around users can increase user engagement by 40% so I took the time to create a video The Practice recordings that i’ had done in my closet I put a video to it now this is something I have a little bit of experience with with my photography background and if you don’t guess what Fiverr is a great a great place to find a video editor that can put something together for you so I’m going to play a little bit of this video so you can get an idea of what I have not going to play the whole thing cuz it’s over a minute long Power Precision and style the BMW 3 Series is designed for those who demand the best in every Drive BMW the ultimate driving machine get in on the action with okay just a quick little clip I have um a sports betting commercial I have a Jack Daniels commercial I have kind of a fake madeup medicine commercial um just to kind of show a range of what are the what I can do with my voice or what I can offer with my voice and then down here is where I have some audio samples now you’ll see a murder mystery narration sample and also a Spanish demo real sample if I just play them here you’ll just basically hear the audio so what I’m going to do is I’m going to jump into my profile so that you can see what it looks like live so this this is what my profile looks like if you’re a buyer looking at my profile to see if you’d like to use my services it’s a nice big colorful picture big head shot a description of what my voice can offer before clicking on the the play button so you get an idea of what it is you’ll be listening to you’ve already watched that video from the first sample I’m going to go to this one because this one was recorded in Spanish and as you can see I even put Spanish text to try and entice a Spanish buyer [Music] so there you go that’s a bit of a Spanish example so notice the first one is the one that had the video and that had about five different samples of work and then from there the other ones there’s a murder mystery one and there’s a Spanish one I tried to match the images as best as I could but the point being here whether that’s a quality image or not whether it’s actually going to work or not is that I put the effort into it I put the work into it to make sure that I presented myself with the best foot possible and so that’s my profile I don’t want to bore you with all the all the details there plenty of videos online that can show you uh what you really need to do with your profile especially someone like Brian at ridgeback Productions U definitely reach out to him it was an absolute game Cher for me because I’ve never seen that kind of return where I adjusted the profile the way way he recommended and I got a job by the end of the day that’s unheard of so in any case what did I make right I’m now officially a paid voice actor it’s not exactly life-changing money there are probably easier ways to make the money that I did but I made a grand total of $20 that’s all right it’s my first $20 prior to making this video today I had zero I had zero dollars that I had made from this business and now this is my first 20 and hopefully not my last but thank you for watching all the way to the end of this video like subscribe do all that fun
